Design The Study
Choose text or voice
Decide whether participants should answer through a text conversation or a voice conversation.
Each study can be configured as a Text conversation or Voice conversation.

Use voice conversation when
Voice is usually better when you need:
- richer qualitative answers
- emotional nuance
- stories and examples
- less typing friction for long answers
- a research or interview-like experience
Voice is a strong fit for customer discovery, churn follow-up, customer stories, employee experience, and feedback that needs the reason behind the first answer.
Use text conversation when
Text is usually better when:
- participants may not be able to speak
- answers should be shorter
- the topic is operational or structured
- participants need to answer in a quiet or shared workspace
- you want lower friction for quick written feedback
What changes in the docs
The marketing shorthand is "voice form," but the app supports both text and voice conversations. In the docs, use:
- study for the thing you create
- voice conversation when the participant speaks
- text conversation when the participant writes
Next step
Choose the follow-up depth.
